How RidePickup collects, uses, and shares your information — and what rights you have. Read together with our Terms of Service.

Last updated: April 2026
In short: we collect only what’s needed to run the Platform — your contact info, ride request details, and basic usage data. We share ride details with matching Drivers so they can quote you. We do not sell personal information. You can access, correct, or delete your data anytime by emailing [email protected].

1. Who we are

RidePickup is a pre-booked ride marketplace headquartered in Los Angeles, California, USA. We connect riders with independent Drivers. For the purposes of data protection law, RidePickup is the data controller of information collected through the Platform.

2. What we collect

Information you provide

  • Contact info: name, email, phone number, and your preferred messaging channel (WeChat, WhatsApp, LINE, SMS).
  • Trip requests: service type, city, pickup and drop-off addresses, date/time, passengers, bags, service preferences, notes.
  • Driver profile (Drivers only): name, vehicle details, service area, spoken languages, license/insurance status, rates, profile photo, bio.
  • Communications: messages between riders and Drivers through the Platform, and with our support team.

Information collected automatically

  • Device & usage: IP address, browser type, pages visited, time on page, referring URL.
  • Cookies & local storage: session tokens, language preference, draft ride requests (see Section 6).
  • Analytics: aggregated usage via Google Analytics (pageviews, referrers, conversion events).

3. How we use information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Operate the Platform — display Driver profiles, relay ride requests, deliver communications;
  • Verify your identity and prevent fraud or abuse;
  • Respond to support requests and send transactional emails (e.g., email verification codes);
  • Improve features based on aggregate usage patterns;
  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms.

We do not sell personal information to third parties.

4. Who we share with

  • Drivers who match your request: when you post a ride, the details you submit are relayed to Drivers whose service area and profile match.
  • Service providers: we use third-party vendors for email delivery (SMTP providers), hosting (Cloudflare), and analytics (Google Analytics). These vendors access only what they need to perform their services under our instructions.
  • Legal and safety: we may disclose information when required by law, subpoena, court order, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of users or the public.
  • Business transfers: if RidePickup is acquired or merges with another entity, user information may transfer to the successor, subject to this Policy.

5. Storage & security

Data is stored on servers hosted in the United States by reputable cloud providers. We use TLS/HTTPS for data in transit and follow industry-standard practices for data at rest. No system is 100% secure — we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we work to protect your information.

We retain account and ride-request data for as long as your account is active and for a reasonable period afterward (typically up to 2 years) for legal compliance and dispute resolution.

6. Cookies & similar tech

We use cookies, localStorage, and similar technologies for:

  • Essential: login sessions, language preference;
  • Functional: remembering your draft ride requests, form state;
  • Analytics: aggregated usage via Google Analytics. You can opt out using browser settings or the Google Analytics Opt-out Add-on.

7. Your rights

You can:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you;
  • Correct inaccurate or incomplete information;
  • Delete your account and associated data;
  • Export a copy of your information in a portable format;
  • Object to certain uses of your information.

To exercise these rights, email [email protected] from your registered email address. We typically respond within 30 days.

8. California residents (CCPA/CPRA)

If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act and California Privacy Rights Act:

  • Right to know what personal information we collect, use, or share about you;
  • Right to delete your personal information (subject to limited exceptions);
  • Right to correct inaccurate personal information;
  • Right to limit the use and disclosure of sensitive personal information;
  • Right to opt out of the sale of personal information — we do not sell personal information, so this opt-out is not required;
  • Right to non-discrimination for exercising these rights.

To make a request, email [email protected].

9. Children & minors

The Platform is intended for users 18 years and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe we have collected such information, contact us and we will delete it.

10. Third-party links

The Platform may contain links to third-party websites (Driver payment apps, maps, social media). Those sites have their own privacy practices and we are not responsible for their policies. Review the privacy policies of any third-party sites you visit.

11. Policy updates

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top shows when the current version took effect. Material changes will be communicated by posting an updated policy on this page, or by email for registered users.
