Isn’t this just Uber with extra steps?

Uber is optimized for on-demand, “right now” rides — you don’t know the driver, price varies with demand, and you can’t pre-schedule reliably for important trips. Local Rides on RidePickup are for trips where those things matter: same driver each time, locked-in price, specific language, elderly-friendly.

How far in advance should I book?

For local rides, 24-48 hours ahead is ideal. Same-day often works if drivers are available. For medical appointments or recurring trips, booking a week ahead gets the best driver match.

Can I book recurring rides with the same driver?

Yes — once you find a driver you like, message them directly to arrange recurring trips. They may offer a repeat-customer rate.

What counts as a “local” ride?

Typically anything within the same metro area (e.g., anywhere in LA County, anywhere in the Bay Area). Longer trips across metros (LA→Vegas, SF→Sacramento) fall under City-to-City Rides.

Is there a minimum fare?

Each driver sets their own minimum. Most drivers won’t take very short trips (under 5 miles / 10 minutes) because the setup cost outweighs the ride. For short trips, Uber/Lyft may be better.

Can I change or cancel?

Yes. Contact the driver directly to reschedule or cancel. Most drivers don’t charge cancellation if you give 24h notice. Day-of changes are at the driver’s discretion.
