Platform basics

Is RidePickup the same as Uber or Lyft?
No. Uber and Lyft dispatch drivers to riders automatically, handle payment, and take a commission. RidePickup is a marketplace — we show driver profiles, relay your request, and let you choose who to book. The actual trip is a direct agreement between you and the driver you pick.
Are rides on RidePickup on-demand?
No. Every ride is pre-booked — meaning you post a request, drivers respond with quotes, and you confirm a driver before the trip. For immediate rides, Uber and Lyft remain the better option.
Which cities are covered?
Active driver networks in Los Angeles, San Francisco Bay Area, New York (with NJ & CT), Las Vegas, and Seattle. More US cities are being added. City-to-city routes (e.g., LA → Las Vegas, SF → Lake Tahoe, NYC → Boston) are supported everywhere drivers serve.
Does RidePickup drive the vehicle?
No. RidePickup doesn’t own vehicles, employ drivers, or provide transportation. Every driver is an independent professional driver or small fleet. We’re an information marketplace, not a transportation operator.
What languages do drivers speak?
Varies by driver — most speak English, and many also speak Mandarin, Cantonese, Korean, Spanish, Japanese, or Vietnamese. Filter drivers by language on Browse Drivers, or set a language preference when posting a request.

Request flow

How do I post a trip request?
Click Request Quotes in the top nav. Pick your service type (airport / private driver / local / city-to-city), starting city, and fill in trip details. The whole flow takes 2-3 minutes.
How far in advance should I book?
For most trips, 24-48 hours ahead gives you the most driver choices and best prices. Same-day works if drivers are free, but options narrow. For airport transfers and medical appointments, booking 2-3 days out is recommended.
Do I have to pick one driver, or can I book several?
You book one driver per trip. But your request goes to multiple matching drivers so you can compare quotes. Pick the one that fits best on price, vehicle, reviews, and communication.
How fast do drivers respond?
Airport trips: usually within 2 hours. Local rides: within 4-6 hours. Private drivers and city-to-city: within a day. If nobody responds in 24 hours, post again with different details (more advance notice, different time, clearer pickup location).
Can I change or cancel my request?
Before booking a driver: yes, at any time with no charge. After booking: coordinate directly with the driver. Most drivers don’t charge cancellation with 24 hours notice. Last-minute cancellations are at the driver’s discretion.
What if no drivers quote my request?
Usually means your timing, route, or pickup location is unclear or uncommon. Try: posting more lead time, adding clearer pickup details, or browsing drivers directly and contacting one whose service area matches.

Drivers

Who are the drivers?
Independent professional drivers and small transportation fleets. Each driver runs their own business — they set their own rates, service areas, and schedules. Many drive full-time; some moonlight on weekends.
Are drivers vetted?
RidePickup reviews new driver profiles for basic accuracy (vehicle, license, service area). We don’t run background checks at platform level — because drivers are independent operators, they handle their own licensing, insurance, and compliance. Look at each driver’s profile for specifics.
Can I book the same driver repeatedly?
Yes. Once you find a driver you like, you can contact them directly for future rides. Many drivers offer repeat-customer rates.
What if a driver cancels on me?
Contact the driver directly first (usually by phone/text/WeChat). If unreachable or the trip is time-critical, post a new request noting the urgency — other drivers can pick it up. You can also contact [email protected] if there’s a pattern of issues.
Do drivers provide child seats?
Many do — mention child seat needs (infant / toddler / booster) when posting your request so only matching drivers quote. Some charge a small fee; others include it.

Pricing & payment

How much does a trip cost?
Each driver sets their own price. Rough ballparks: airport transfer in a major metro $60-150, private driver by the hour $50-90/hr, LA-Vegas one-way $400-700. Get actual quotes by posting a request.
Does RidePickup charge a fee?
No. Posting a request and browsing drivers is free. We don’t take a commission on your trip. You pay the driver directly, in full.
How do I pay the driver?
Directly, the way the driver prefers: cash, Venmo, Zelle, PayPal, card, WeChat Pay. Each driver lists their accepted payment methods on their profile, or asks when you book.
Do I tip drivers?
Up to you. Tipping isn’t built into the platform. Many riders tip 10-20% for good service, same as other livery or chauffeur services.
What if the price changes after booking?
The driver’s quote is a fixed price for the trip as described. If you change pickup, add stops, or the passenger/luggage count changes significantly, the driver may adjust. Always confirm final price with the driver before the trip.

Account

Do I need an account to post a request?
Yes — but it’s light. You verify your email address the first time you post, which creates an account. You can then log in later to check request status and driver responses.
How do I log in?
Click Sign In in the top nav. Enter your email and we send a one-time code. No password needed.
Can I delete my account and data?
Yes — email [email protected] from your registered address and we’ll delete your account and associated data within 7 days. See our Privacy Policy for details.

Driver onboarding

How do I list my driving service on RidePickup?
Visit Become a Driver to apply. The driver onboarding flow is currently in Chinese — English version coming soon. For English-speaking drivers, email [email protected] to get started.
Does it cost drivers to join?
No. Listing a driver profile is free, and RidePickup doesn’t take a commission on trips. Drivers keep 100% of the fares they charge riders.
Do I need TCP, livery license, or commercial insurance?
Depends on your state and the type of service you offer. Each driver is responsible for their own licensing and insurance compliance. RidePickup displays your profile — we don’t verify regulatory status.
Can I drive on RidePickup part-time?
Yes. Many drivers drive part-time or alongside other platforms. You control which requests you accept and when you’re available.
